I’m a newb in regards to being an audiophile. I just acquired my very first DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) for my Audio Technica M20X. I got Micca Origen G2 for the DAC. They are considered entry level headphones. But I really like to test the waters before I start spending hundreds of dollars on equipment.
I’ve had my Audio Technica M20X for half a year now and wear them daily at work to listen to music. I’ve always felt they were not that comfortable. Often using my cheap $10 Sony headphones because of their comfort. Browsing online and in videos, I heard switching earpads might improve comfort & sound signature. I figured I’d give it a try. But many of the Brainwavz and other brands cost anywhere from $25-50. Steep investment for someone who is fairly new.
Searching through Amazon, I found a pair of velour earpads that fit similar Audio Technica headphones for $9. Since the earpads for the M20X, M30X, M40X & M50X are all the same, I figured I’d order them and give them a try. They arrived quickly and I figured out how to remove and replace my earpads. Fairly easy to do the swap after a quick Google search.
Bam. I am impressed. I wear glasses. And these new cheap velour earpads are amazing! The padding is so much nicer around the head/ear. Since I wear my headphones at least 3-4 hours a day during work, comfort is a big deal.
