Volkswagen will be debuting the XL Sport at the Paris Motor Show 2014. Featuring a 197 hp lightweight sports car with a top speed of 168 mph. Utilizing a Ducati Superleggera V-Twin engine which will rev to 11,000 rpm.
Designed with lightweight components in mind. Estimates show will be under 2,000 lbs and have a drag coefficient of 0.258, which is nuts. Power will be transferred through a seven-speed DSG gearbox. The XL Sport is expected to do 0 to 62 mph in 5.7 seconds. Thanks to it’s excellent weight to power ratio.
Will of course utilize high-tech materials like titanium and magnesium alloys. They are planning to build 500 units, but none of them are coming stateside. We just can’t have nice things here in the US of A (ex: crazy station wagons). Based on the XL1, “most fuel efficient production car of all time”. Can’t wait to see this concept/technology roam over to a mass market vehicle in the future.
